Remove the cables attached to the optical drive and remove the drive. Unscrew and remove the optical drive, which resembles a large aluminum square near the external DVD drive of your laptop casing. Unscrew the bottom of your Macbook Pro using a Philips-head screw driver. Install a Larger Drive Into a Macbook Proīuy an MCE OptiBay adapter, produced by MEC Technologies. Select "Mac OS Extended" from the "Format" drop-down menu and click the "Erase" button. Select the new hard drive from the menu on the left of the window. Click "Finder | Go | Utilities | Disk Utility.app." Click the "Erase" tab. Turn on the computer, and reformat the hard drive for Mac OSX. Secure the rear latch and replace the side panel. Reinsert the enclosure into the Mac Pro tower. Secure the hard drive to the enclosure with the four screws. Remove your new hard drive from its static-free package and place it into the enclosure, with its four screw holes aligned with the screw holes of the enclosure. Remove the four Philips-head screws from the enclosure. In default configurations, the far-left tray contains the main hard drive. The four red slots above each enclosure will slide to the "Open" position. Find the rear latch at the back of the tower, and pull up. These will be four rectangular aluminum cases aligned side-by-side across the tower body. Take one of the unused hard drive enclosures of the Mac Pro tower. Pull the latch on the side of the computer tower and open the side panel. Discharge any static electricity in your tools by touching your screwdriver to the metal handle of the computer tower.
